ADC Requests INEC to Address Concerns Over Ethnic Bias in Staff Changes

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for clarification regarding allegations of ethnic bias in recent staff postings. This request was made in a statement released on October 11, 2026, by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary.

The ADC reported receiving complaints about recent personnel changes in key departments, including Electoral Operations and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). They noted that officers in some northern states were reassigned and replaced with officers from Lagos and other areas in the South-West.

While the ADC is not directly accusing INEC of wrongdoing, they believe that any claims affecting public trust in the electoral commission should be addressed promptly. They emphasized that concerns about regional representation in important departments should not be dismissed as mere administrative issues.

The party urged INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, to publicly share details about the staff changes, including how selections were made and the reasons behind them. The ADC believes that transparency is essential to maintain public confidence in the electoral process.
