APC Crushes Rival Claims, Reaffirms Senator Yayi as Ogun Governorship Flagbearer

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress has moved to extinguish political controversy in Ogun State, firmly declaring Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, widely known as Yayi, as the party’s authentic governorship flagbearer.

The party’s national executive council issued a clear disclaimer to address public confusion created by parallel declarations from Joseph Hunye, who had been claiming the governorship ticket. The APC confirmed that Senator Yayi remains the party’s duly nominated candidate following its official primaries, with Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun standing as his running mate.

Addressing the dispute, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru clarified that Hunye lacks any standing to speak or act on behalf of the political party. Hunye was suspended from the APC following anti-party petitions originating from his ward in Ipokia Local Government Area, a disciplinary action that was fully ratified by state working structures.

The party emphasized that the credentials of Senator Yayi and his running mate have already been successfully processed and acknowledged on the electoral submission portal. The APC warned media organizations and commercial entities that conducting political business with unrecognized claimants poses severe legal risks, adding that its legal team has been instructed to initiate proceedings for impersonation.
