Atiku Raises Alarm Over Unknown Campaign Deposit, Warns of Banking Data Leak Ahead of 2027

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns over an unauthorized deposit made into one of his private bank accounts, describing the transaction as a potential data breach and a political setup.

In an official statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the former Vice President revealed that an unidentified individual transferred an undisclosed sum of money into his account with the transaction narration “Contribution Electioneering Campaign”.

Atiku emphasized that neither he nor his campaign organization solicited, approved, or had any prior knowledge of the transaction, questioning how an unknown sender obtained confidential details for an account that is strictly private and not available in the public domain.

Expressing worry over the implications for national financial security, Atiku stated that if the private banking details of a former Vice President and leading presidential candidate can be accessed and manipulated by unknown actors, then no ordinary citizen’s financial privacy is safe. He warned that unauthorized access to private banking information exposes account holders to serious security risks, including fraud, extortion, and criminal targeting.

The former Vice President suggested that the unsolicited transfer forms part of a wider series of desperate political tactics and character assassination attempts aimed at smearing his reputation as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Urging the public and security agencies to take note of the incident, Atiku’s media team confirmed that the suspicious credit has been officially reported to anti-graft agencies and relevant security authorities for a thorough investigation to identify the origin of the transfer and those responsible for breaching his private banking data.
