Ayewa Gospel Music Ministry Celebrates 50 Years of Faith and Music

The Ayewa Gospel Music Ministry (AGMM) is celebrating a significant milestone as it marks its 50th anniversary on November 27. Founded by Pastor Joseph Adebayo Adelakun, known as Baba Ayewa, the ministry has dedicated five decades to spreading the gospel through music.

Pastor Adelakun started his journey in gospel music after converting to Christianity while serving in the Nigerian Army. His passion for music began in the mid-1970s when he became a choir member in Kaduna. This spiritual transformation led him to create the Ayewa International Gospel Singers, laying the groundwork for a lasting legacy in gospel music.

Over the years, the ministry has produced more than 30 albums, featuring popular songs like “Amona Tete Maa Bo” and “Emi Yio Kokiki Re.” These songs not only showcase the ministry’s unique style, rooted in Yoruba culture and biblical teachings, but also emphasize worship and the power of music in sharing the message of faith.

The upcoming golden jubilee celebration will reflect on the journey from humble beginnings to a recognized name in gospel music. It will honor Pastor Adelakun’s dedication and the spiritual impact of the ministry’s music, which has resonated with worshippers across West Africa and beyond.

This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of indigenous gospel music and the enduring influence of songs aimed at glorifying God.
