Supporters of Isa Pantami Urged to Stay Calm After Name Omission from INEC List
Professor Suleiman Mohammed, spokesperson for the Pantamiyya Movement, has called for calm among supporters of former Communications Minister, Professor Isa Pantami. This comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) left Pantami and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) off its list of candidates for the governorship election in Gombe State.
In a statement shared on Pantami’s Facebook account, Mohammed described the omission as a temporary setback. He urged supporters not to see it as a final decision about Pantami’s political future. He encouraged members of the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement to stay hopeful and focused as the electoral process unfolds.
“This is a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination, in sha Allah,” the statement said.
Pantami’s name was missing from the INEC list, even though he was declared the PDP governorship candidate after a primary election on September 29. This primary was held following a court order that required the party to select a candidate for the 2027 election.
While candidates from other political parties were included in the published list, Pantami and the PDP were notably absent. The statement did not outline any specific actions the party or Pantami’s camp plans to take regarding this omission.
