Couple Seeks Divorce Amid Claims of Abuse and Infidelity

A woman named Rashidat has asked a court in Ibadan, Oyo State, to end her marriage to her husband, Sarafatu. She claims he has been neglectful, abusive, and has made her life miserable.

Rashidat says that since their marriage began, she has not known peace. She accuses her husband of failing to support her and their children, often leaving them without enough food. She describes their children as looking malnourished and states that she has had to work hard to provide for the family.

According to Rashidat, Sarafatu frequently turns arguments into physical fights, leaving her injured. She has asked the court for custody of their children and for Sarafatu to be responsible for their care, including their food, education, and health.

In response, Sarafatu agreed to the divorce but accused Rashidat of cheating on him. He claims he caught her with another man and that she became pregnant by this man. Sarafatu has requested custody of their children, arguing that Rashidat would negatively influence them.

Rashidat expressed regret over her marriage, stating that her husband has been irresponsible and uncaring. She hopes the court will grant her request for a divorce and protect her from further threats from Sarafatu.
