Court Delays Decision on APC Primary Election Appeal in Zamfara North
The Court of Appeal in Sokoto has postponed its decision on an appeal concerning the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Zamfara North Senatorial District. The case was discussed in court on Tuesday, where lawyers presented their written arguments.
Barrister Bello Galadi, representing Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, one of the respondents in the case, informed reporters that both sides had submitted their written briefs as required by court rules. After reviewing these documents, the court decided to delay its judgment.
No specific date has been set for when the court will announce its decision. The judgment will be communicated to the involved parties once it is ready.
Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a candidate for the Zamfara North Senate seat, expressed optimism that the court will uphold a previous ruling from the Federal High Court. That ruling had annulled the APC primary election in the district due to violations of the Electoral Act and the party’s own rules.
This appeal follows the earlier court decision that invalidated the APC primary election in Zamfara North, raising questions about the election process.
