Cross River PDP Faction Claims Rival Coalition is Falling Apart Ahead of Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction in Cross River, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has announced that a rival political coalition is collapsing as the 2027 general elections draw near. This claim follows the resignation of Venatius Ikem, who was described as the chairman of the opposing faction.

Julius Udayi, the governorship candidate for Turaki’s faction, stated that Ikem’s departure indicates that the so-called “Rainbow Coalition” is losing its influence. Udayi expressed confidence that his faction would succeed in the upcoming elections.

Udayi noted that Ikem had been tasked with managing the rival faction’s activities and promoting its candidates in Cross River. He suggested that Ikem’s resignation could signal a resolution to the ongoing political disputes within the party, especially with a court ruling expected soon.

His faction believes that the Court of Appeal will confirm its candidates as the legitimate representatives of the PDP for the 2027 elections. Udayi reaffirmed that the candidates chosen by the caretaker committee, which Turaki leads, are the true candidates of the party in the state.

He urged PDP members and supporters to stay calm, united, and respectful while awaiting the court’s decision. Udayi also mentioned that his faction would continue to prepare for the elections and work on strengthening the party in Cross River.

If elected, Udayi promised to focus on utilizing the state’s human and natural resources to foster self-sufficiency and economic growth. He encouraged party members to remain dedicated to the PDP and expressed hope that the internal issues would soon be resolved.
