Edo Deputy Governor Highlights Security Policies as Key to Economic Growth

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, stated that the security policies implemented by Governor Monday Okpebholo are essential for the state’s economic growth. He made these comments during a visit from a delegation of the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta.

Idahosa emphasized that the government’s focus on public safety has helped create a safer environment for both investors and farmers. He noted that the administration’s efforts to reduce crime and improve the justice system have been effective in addressing criminal activities.

According to Idahosa, the government’s ‘SHINE Agenda’ prioritizes security, which he believes is crucial for attracting investment and supporting agriculture. He explained that when people feel safe, they are more likely to engage in farming and business activities.

He also highlighted the link between security and agricultural productivity, stating that farmers need safe communities to thrive. Idahosa expressed gratitude to the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta for selecting Edo as a base for its development programs.

Dr. Effiong Essien, the Programme Director of the foundation, mentioned that their organization aims to promote peace and economic growth in the Niger Delta by collaborating with various stakeholders. He urged the state government to work together on initiatives that ensure safe farming areas and support youth employment.

Essien also suggested appointing a government representative to gather early warnings about potential conflicts, which could help prevent unrest in the region.
