The fierce political storm that has gripped Rivers State for years appears to have reached a definitive turning point after Governor Siminalayi Fubara publicly announced his return to the political fold led by his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Governor Fubara made the landmark declaration while addressing stakeholders and residents during the groundbreaking ceremony for the multi-billion-naira Riven Medical Industries Project in Port Harcourt. Putting months of speculation to rest, the governor stated unequivocally that the era of political conflict in the oil-rich state is officially over, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and mutual collaboration.

As part of the comprehensive political realignment, Fubara formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid for 2027, while also naming Hon. Kingsley Chinda as his preferred choice for the state’s next gubernatorial election. He instructed his supporters across all local government areas to discard past divisions and throw their absolute support behind the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition and all affiliated candidates.

“We have made peace in the state, and I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition,” Governor Fubara declared to cheering supporters. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. Kingsley Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support him and every other candidate under the coalition. The time for war is over.
