Jigawa Police Arrest Six Suspected Robbers, Recover Stolen Phones and Cash

The Jigawa State Police have arrested six people suspected of armed robbery and recovered 13 mobile phones along with cash believed to be stolen. This was announced by SP Shi’isu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Tuesday.

The arrests followed a series of robbery incidents reported in Jahun on September 24, 2026. During these incidents, armed men broke into two homes in the area around 2:00 a.m. The first victim, a 35-year-old man, lost a large amount of cash and several phones, while the second victim, a 37-year-old man, had cash and other household items stolen.

Police began their investigation immediately and arrested five suspects shortly after the crimes. Their names include Sale Ibrahim, Abubakar Abdullahi, Babangida Ya’u, Babannan Hassan, and Isah Isibu, all aged between 25 and 35.

On October 15, 2026, police made another arrest during a patrol at Maigatari Market, where they detained a 35-year-old man named Isa Yusuf. A search of his belongings revealed 13 new mobile phones, chargers, batteries, and cash.

During questioning, Yusuf admitted to being part of the group responsible for the earlier robbery in Jahun. The police confirmed that the items found in his possession were linked to the robbery.

The police are continuing their search for other suspects who are still at large. The Commissioner of Police, Tijjani Murtala, praised the officers for their efforts and urged the community to remain alert and provide any information that could help in the investigation.
