Kogi Police Seize 400 Wraps of Suspected Indian Hemp Worth ₦3.2 Million
The Kogi State Police have arrested a man after discovering 400 wraps of what they believe to be Indian hemp. The drugs are valued at ₦3.2 million and were found in a vehicle in Magongo, located in the Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, officers from the Akpafa Division stopped the vehicle during a routine check. The suspect, named Abdulrahman, was traveling from Edo State to Abuja in a Honda vehicle when he was intercepted.
Initial investigations suggest that Abdulrahman may be involved in the sale and distribution of Indian hemp. He reportedly stated that the drugs were supplied by someone known as “Biggy” in Edo State and were meant for delivery to buyers in Abuja.
The police have handed over the suspect and the seized drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation. They are also working to identify and arrest “Biggy” and others connected to this drug operation.
Kogi State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, praised the officers for their work in intercepting the drugs. He emphasized the police’s ongoing commitment to using intelligence to combat drug trafficking and urged the public to share information that could help dismantle criminal networks.
