Kwara ADC Gubernatorial Candidate Promises Economic Change by 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor in Kwara State, Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed, has promised to lessen the state’s reliance on civil service jobs. He plans to focus on agricultural processing, technical education, and job creation if he wins the election in 2027.

Mohammed spoke to journalists in Ilorin, stating that Kwara needs positive change. He outlined a three-point plan that includes improving security, promoting economic growth, and ensuring a safe environment for residents and businesses. He noted that insecurity is a major barrier to economic development.

Having served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019, Mohammed emphasized the importance of community involvement in security and the use of modern technology to support security agencies. He highlighted agriculture as a vital sector that requires urgent government focus, stating that farmers need better security and support to boost food production.

Mohammed also claimed that he is the only leading candidate in Kwara without a political mentor, asserting that he relies on God and the voters to achieve his goals. He encouraged open debates on local issues among candidates.

On economic matters, he expressed concern about the rising cost of living and the struggles families face. He criticized the current government’s economic policies, particularly their focus on taxation during tough times. He believes government actions should ease the burden on citizens and support productive activities.

Additionally, he called for improvements in the education system to provide young people with practical skills that can help them succeed. He argued that governance should focus on clear programs and accountability rather than personal connections.
