Nigeria’s First Ebola Patient Evacuated to Switzerland After Improvement

Nigeria’s first case of imported Ebola virus has been evacuated from Abuja to Switzerland after showing significant improvement, according to Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare.

Pate shared the news in a post on X, stating that the evacuation occurred earlier on Monday with his approval. He noted that the patient was stable, conscious, and communicating, with laboratory test results nearing normal levels.

However, Pate warned that despite the patient’s improvement, she may still be infectious. He emphasized that strict public health protocols are still in effect to prevent further spread of the virus.

The patient was evacuated along with her husband, who has shown no symptoms of the virus. Pate praised the clinical staff and public health personnel for their efforts in ensuring the evacuation followed proper health measures.

The government plans to provide more updates after the patient and her husband arrive safely in Switzerland. Pate reassured the public that efforts to contain the Ebola virus are ongoing and urged people to stay informed through reliable sources.
