Lagos Governorship Candidate Promises to Improve Lives, Not Inflate Budgets

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, has shared his vision for improving the lives of residents. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he emphasized that he aims to make a positive impact rather than inflate budgets if elected.

Rhodes-Vivour highlighted his integrity, stating, “I don’t pad budgets, I am not a thief.” He criticized the current administration for allegedly misrepresenting costs in the budget, citing examples like a generator listed at a much higher price than its actual cost.

He expressed confidence in gaining support from Lagosians, noting that he has consistently focused on the issues that matter to them. Rhodes-Vivour addressed concerns about his ability to speak Yoruba and his family background, insisting that these matters should not distract from the serious challenges facing the state.

“We need to address these issues that are affecting many Lagosians,” he said, stressing that language and culture are important but should not overshadow the real problems. He accused the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), of diverting attention from critical issues.

Regarding his choice of Babatunde Gbadamosi as his deputy, Rhodes-Vivour praised him as a capable candidate who can help bring about necessary changes in Lagos. He also reflected on his previous run in the 2023 election, where he received a significant number of votes but claimed that the results did not truly represent the people’s will due to alleged voter intimidation.

Looking ahead to the 2027 election, Rhodes-Vivour stated that he and his team are better prepared and determined not to be intimidated or bullied.
