Seyi Makinde Promises One-Term Presidency if Elected in 2027

Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has announced that he would serve just one four-year term if elected as Nigeria’s president in 2027. He made this commitment during a town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday.

At the event, Makinde highlighted his plans to tackle major issues facing Nigeria, such as insecurity and poverty. He emphasized that his government would not extend beyond four years and would aim to be inclusive.

This promise aligns with a similar commitment made by Peter Obi, a candidate from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), who also pledged to serve only one term. Both candidates’ promises reflect an informal agreement about power-sharing between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions.

Currently, President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) is seeking re-election next year. The political landscape is heating up as candidates prepare for the upcoming elections.
