Netflix to Broadcast All Matches of 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra
Netflix has secured exclusive rights to broadcast the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra. This announcement came on Tuesday as part of the company’s push into live sports.
The tournament will feature 104 matches hosted by Spain, Morocco, and Portugal. Netflix plans to air all games live and will also provide pre-match, half-time, and post-match programs specifically for Spanish viewers.
In a notable move, Netflix will offer one match free of charge on each matchday in Spain. This includes matches featuring the Spanish national team, along with both semi-finals and the final, which will also be available for free.
Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, expressed excitement about the partnership with FIFA, highlighting the World Cup’s ability to connect people. She noted that hosting the tournament in Spain, where the country is the reigning champion, adds a special significance.
FIFA Secretary General, Mattias Grafström, also welcomed the agreement, emphasizing the goal of expanding access to the tournament. He expressed hope that the collaboration would bring fans closer to the excitement of the World Cup.
This deal adds to Netflix’s growing collection of live sports content, which already includes rights for the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The company is also set to broadcast a boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury in December.
