New Delta Police Boss Samuel Erale Assumes Duty, Declares Total War on Kidnappers, Cultists, and Robbers

The Delta State Police Command has ushered in new leadership with the deployment of Commissioner of Police Samuel Etaifo Erale, who has declared an uncompromising war against kidnappers, cult groups, armed robbers, and other criminal elements operating in the state.

Speaking during his inaugural press briefing at the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba following his handover from outgoing CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, Erale announced that the command will adopt aggressive, intelligence-led policing to secure Delta’s status as a vital economic hub.

Outlining his strategic vision, the new commissioner revealed a five-point agenda designed to overhaul security operations. The blueprint focuses on enforcing internal discipline, strengthening community policing networks, deepening joint operations with sister security services, aggressively suppressing crime in identified hotspots, and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.

Addressing internal conduct, Erale declared zero tolerance for extortion, corrupt practices, and human rights abuses by officers, warning that errant personnel would face strict disciplinary measures. He noted that while bad behavior will be penalized, officers who display exceptional integrity, bravery, and professionalism will be recognized and rewarded.

The CP stressed that modern policing requires moving away from reactive emergency responses toward predictive, proactive operations powered by digital tools, data analysis, and credible intelligence. He indicated that tactical units would be subjected to measurable performance standards to ensure maximum operational efficiency.

Erale appealed to traditional rulers, youth leaders, religious organizations, and the broader public to partner with the police, reminding residents that community cooperation is vital to crime prevention. Urging citizens to embrace the culture of vigilance and promptly report suspicious activities, the police boss assured the people of Delta State of fair, accessible, and responsive security coverage.
