Nigerian Army Launches Three New Battalions to Enhance Security in Zamfara

The Nigerian Army has set up three new infantry battalions in Zamfara State to boost security and improve response times in the region. This announcement was made by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations on Tuesday.

The newly established units are the 12 Infantry Battalion in Bakura, the 23 Infantry Battalion in Kaura Namoda, and the 28 Infantry Battalion in Anka. These battalions aim to expand the Army’s operational reach and secure their designated areas.

During the activation ceremonies, Major General BP Koughna, representing the General Officer Commanding of the 8 Division, emphasized the Army’s dedication to enhancing security in Zamfara. Colonel Joseph Umaru, the Acting Commander of the 1 Brigade, echoed this commitment and highlighted the importance of cooperation among security agencies, traditional leaders, and local communities.

Umaru urged residents to support security efforts by providing timely and reliable information. He also reminded the newly deployed troops to uphold discipline and professionalism in their duties.

The traditional rulers in the areas where the new battalions are located expressed their support for the Army’s efforts. The Emirs of Bakura, Anka, and Kaura Namoda welcomed the new units, calling the deployments a significant step towards restoring safety in their communities.

With these new battalions, the Army aims to respond more quickly to security threats and strengthen operations throughout Zamfara.
