NSCDC Arrests Suspected Vandal and Recovers Stolen Electricity Cables in Kano

Operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Danbatta, Kano State, have arrested a man suspected of vandalism and recovered stolen electricity cables. The arrest took place on Friday, October 2, 2026, during a patrol in Danbatta town.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jamilu Inusa from Kauyen Mudu village, was caught with a white Volkswagen Golf Wagon. According to a statement from Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Command of the NSCDC, the patrol team acted on credible information leading to the arrest.

During a search, the NSCDC operatives found four bags filled with aluminium electricity conductor cables hidden in a compound. These cables are typically used for electricity distribution.

The NSCDC emphasized that vandalism and theft of electricity infrastructure pose significant risks to public safety and economic development. They are also pursuing two additional suspects who remain at large.

After the investigation is complete, the NSCDC plans to take appropriate legal action against the suspects. The State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, praised the operatives for their diligence and urged the public to report any information that could help prevent such crimes.
