Ologbondiyan Says Ibadan Summit Opens Gateway for Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso to Join Forces

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan has declared that top opposition figures Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso still have a realistic opportunity to form a formidable grand alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on the outcomes of the national opposition summit hosted in Ibadan, Oyo State, Ologbondiyan emphasized that the high-level gathering demonstrated that key opposition leaders recognize the urgent need for a united front.

According to Ologbondiyan, the Ibadan summit brought together major political figures across various opposition platforms, creating a neutral ground to rebuild trust and align political interests. He noted that while individual ambitions remain a factor, the meeting proved that dialogue remains open among the political heavyweights.

Reflecting on the outcome of the 2023 general elections, the former PDP spokesperson pointed out that the split among opposition candidates ultimately fragmented the voting strength of the majority, allowing the ruling party to secure victory. He stressed that repeating the mistake of running separate campaigns in 2027 would yield similar results, making a strategic coalition non-negotiable for any serious opposition movement.

Urging Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso to put national interest above individual ambitions, Ologbondiyan called on the leaders to establish joint working committees that can iron out party structures, policy manifestos, and leadership arrangements. He added that the success of any grand alliance will depend on the willingness of all leaders to make necessary sacrifices to deliver a unified political platform capable of winning the presidency.
