Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles, scored a goal as Galatasaray beat Lille 4-2 in their opening match of the 2026 UEFA Champions League. This win gives Galatasaray its first three points in the tournament.

Galatasaray started strong with Yunus Akgun scoring in the second minute. However, Lille fought back, and Aleksey Batrakov equalized just before halftime. Lille’s 19-year-old player Soriba Diaoune also made an impact, scoring two goals in the first half.

After halftime, Galatasaray regained the lead thanks to an own goal by Nabil Bentaleb. Osimhen then secured the victory with his goal in the 61st minute, marking his first Champions League goal this season and his seventh goal overall for Galatasaray.
