Oyinlola Urges Tinubu and Atiku to Step Aside for Younger Leaders

Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the former governor of Osun State, has called for President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to retire from politics. He believes they should allow younger Nigerians to take on leadership roles in the country.

Oyinlola, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed his support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is running for president in the upcoming 2027 election with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oyinlola argued that age should be a factor when considering who can hold public office. He stated, “When I was in Osun, I made a declaration based on my experience in office that anybody above 50 should not aspire to be governor of a state.”

He emphasized that both Tinubu and Atiku should step aside to create space for younger leaders to emerge in Nigeria.
