PDP Knocks Wike Over Attacks on Bode George, Tells Him to Mind His Abuja Job

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a blistering counter-attack against Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over his recent comments mocking party elder statesman, Chief Olabode George.

Responding through a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Christopher Odianarewo, the Lagos PDP described Wike’s remarks as an unhealthy obsession with a senior party leader, urging the minister to leave Lagos politics alone and concentrate on managing affairs in the FCT.

The exchange follows comments credited to Wike and his media office boasting that he had no regret blocking Bode George’s ambition to become the PDP National Chairman, while also questioning the former Deputy National Chairman’s electoral value and property holdings in Abuja.

Faulting Wike’s claims, the Lagos PDP pointed out that the minister’s actions expose deep contradictions. The party questioned why Wike felt the need to personally visit Bode George at his Abuja home to seek peace after the national convention if the elder statesman was truly politically irrelevant, as he now claims.

The statement emphasized that Chief Olabode George played a foundational role in building the PDP structure across the South-West long before Wike rose to prominence in the party. The party added that George’s integrity remains intact, reminding the public that he was completely exonerated by the Supreme Court regarding past management allegations at the Nigerian Ports Authority.

Warning Wike against imposing his political tactics outside his home state, the Lagos PDP declared that Wike cannot drag his style of politics into Lagos, declaring firmly that Lagos is not Rivers State. The party maintained that Bode George does not need Wike’s permission or validation to speak on national and party matters, adding that the Lagos chapter will not succumb to external intimidation or attempts to rewrite party history.
