Pentagon to Livestream Execution of Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Hasan

The Pentagon has announced that the execution of Nidal Hasan, the man responsible for the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, will be livestreamed. This decision was confirmed by a Pentagon official on Thursday. Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was convicted of killing 13 people and wounding many others during the attack.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the execution will be public and will take place on December 3. This will be the first execution by the U.S. military since 1961 and the first by firing squad since World War II.

Hegseth expressed that the public should witness the consequences of such actions. He mentioned this in a video shared on social media, emphasizing the importance of understanding the serious repercussions for violent acts.

Hasan was sentenced to death by a military jury in 2013. He defended himself during the trial but did not call any witnesses or provide testimony. His actions were reportedly influenced by his opposition to U.S. military operations in the Middle East.

While mass shootings are common in the U.S., incidents at military bases are rare. The Pentagon’s decision to livestream this execution marks a significant moment in military justice.
