Three Oyo State Officials Resign, Adding to Political Changes Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Oyo State Government is facing a new wave of resignations as three political appointees stepped down on Monday. This includes Sunday Olugbenga Falana, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, the governor’s Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning.
Falana, who is from Ogbomoso, submitted his resignation letter dated November 2 to Governor Seyi Makinde through the Chief of Staff. He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve but did not explain why he left.
Ojo also resigned on the same day, addressing his letter to the governor via the Secretary to the State Government. He expressed gratitude for the chance to serve but did not share details about his departure.
Oyeleke, who previously served in the Oyo State House of Assembly, cited dissatisfaction with the working environment as his reason for resigning. He mentioned that he felt the environment was not conducive for effectively serving his community. Despite this, he thanked Governor Makinde for his leadership and support.
The resignations come at a crucial time as political parties gear up for the 2027 general elections. The departures of these officials highlight ongoing changes within the Makinde administration and raise questions about the future direction of the government.
