Political Group Urges Imo APC Aspirants to Settle Disputes Ahead of Elections
A political group called Democracy Alliance (DA) is urging candidates for the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets in Imo West and Imo North senatorial districts to settle their differences. This call comes as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, DA emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through the party’s official channels. They warned that any actions or statements that could increase tensions might distract the party from its election preparations.
The statement, signed by DA Chairman Dr. Ejiro Ernest and Secretary Dare Adu, also addressed concerns about unproven claims regarding the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye. The group stated that Nwoye is focused on his party duties and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election efforts.
DA highlighted that the issues in Imo State are internal matters for the party and should not involve Nwoye without clear evidence. They encouraged all parties to work towards unity and mobilization ahead of the elections.
This appeal follows a petition from the Justice and Democracy Network to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, alleging irregularities related to the senatorial primaries. However, these allegations have not been proven.
DA concluded by urging all parties to allow the appropriate authorities to address the issues and to use established channels to resolve their disagreements. They believe this approach will help keep the APC focused on its preparations for the upcoming elections.
