Social Democratic Party Celebrates INEC’s Approval of Nasarawa Gubernatorial Candidate

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Nasarawa State is pleased with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) listing its candidate for governor, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu. This announcement has reduced doubts about the party’s participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

High Chief Otaru Douglas, who works with the Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Campaign Organisation, said the listing has cleared up concerns following a recent Supreme Court ruling about the eligibility of political parties and their candidates. He emphasized that the campaign will focus on connecting with voters across the state and sharing its plans for security, job creation, and empowering youth and women.

Douglas expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and supporters, stating that the INEC’s decision is a sign of the victory they expect in the elections. He encouraged continued engagement with residents to explain their policy proposals.

INEC has also listed other gubernatorial candidates in Nasarawa State, including Nuhu Amgbazo from the African Democratic Congress, Christopher Mammam from the Action Democratic Party, and Aliyu Ahmed Wadada from the All Progressives Congress. Other candidates include Ibrahim Kashim Aboh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi of the Labour Party.

Notably, Musa Shugaba Abdullahi from the Nigeria Democratic Congress was not included in the list. The party has not yet commented on this omission.
