Seven Injured in Shooting Attack on Traders in Plateau State
Seven people were injured in a shooting incident on Sunday while returning from the market in Plateau State, Nigeria. The attack occurred along the Bukuru Expressway in the Jos South Local Government Area.
The Plateau State Police confirmed the incident on Monday. According to police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo, the traders were targeted as they were returning from Kara Market in Bukuru.
The police report stated that the shooting happened around 4:30 PM. The injured individuals have been taken to the Military Clinic at Rukuba Barracks in Jos for medical treatment.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police Ayodeji Faniyan has ordered an investigation into the attack. He emphasized the need to identify and apprehend those responsible for the shooting.
The police condemned the attack and expressed their concern for the victims, wishing them a swift recovery. To enhance security in the area, Tactical Teams and Anti-robbery Teams have been deployed, and efforts are underway to gather more intelligence.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities using their emergency contact numbers.
