Sokoto Rally Shows Public Discontent with Government, Supports Atiku’s Campaign

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has praised the strong turnout for its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during a rally in Sokoto on Wednesday. They see this as a clear sign of public anger towards the current government and growing support for their plans to improve living conditions in Nigeria.

The rally began at the Sultan Muhammad III International Airport and took over three hours for the motorcade to reach the event location. Many people, including families and workers, stopped their daily activities to join the procession. According to the ADC, this turnout was not organized through incentives but was a genuine expression of the people’s struggles with rising costs for food, transport, and fuel.

The Sokoto State Government had tried to limit the ADC’s campaign by denying access to public facilities and creating obstacles for their activities. However, these attempts only fueled public resentment, leading to an even larger turnout at the rally. The ADC stated that such actions could not suppress the people’s political choices.

During the rally, Atiku promised to address the cost-of-living crisis and bring hope back to families and businesses. His plan includes a subsidy for certain petroleum products produced in Nigeria, aimed at reducing fuel costs and easing the financial burden on families.

The ADC’s message emphasizes that Nigerians deserve a government that prioritizes affordability and supports local production. They believe that when a message resonates with the public, people will naturally come out to support it.
