3000 Oyo Teachers Begin 2025 Promotion Exercise; TESCOM Chairman Urges Dedication as State Government Moves to Boost Morale
Professional growth is taking center stage in Oyo State’s education sector as the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) commences the 2025 promotion exercise for thousands of educators. Reports confirmed that 3,000 secondary school teachers are currently undergoing the screening and evaluation process required to move to their next grade levels.
The exercise, which began late last week, is being closely monitored to ensure it remains “smooth and orderly.” During a visit to several evaluation centers in Ibadan, TESCOM Chairman Mrs. Olubukola Oladipo expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the teachers. She noted that the promotion is a “Solution” to stagnation and a way to reciprocate the hard work of teachers who have remained steadfast in their duties. “This is not just a routine move; it is a strategic investment in the people who shape our future,” Oladipo stated, urging beneficiaries to double their efforts in the classroom.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Serifat Abimbola, added that the commission is focusing on merit, ensuring that those who have demonstrated professionalism and punctuality are prioritized. This “Omituntun 2.0” initiative “flips the script” on the old delays in civil service promotions, aligning with the state’s broader goal of making Oyo an investment gateway for quality human capital.
While the promotion exercise continues, the government has also used the opportunity to address rumors of fresh recruitment. TESCOM clarified that while promotions for existing staff are ongoing, no new “recruitment slots” are currently for sale. Teachers and the general public are advised to remain focused on academic excellence and ignore unauthorized information as the commission works to finalize the current promotion batch.
