Oyo Gubernatorial Candidate Promises Quick Compensation for Circular Road Victims

Bimbo Adekanmbi, the governorship candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State, has made a commitment to resolve compensation claims for property owners affected by the Ibadan Circular Road project within his first 100 days in office if he wins the election in 2027.

Adekanmbi announced this promise during an interview on Fresh FM in Ibadan. He emphasized that he has already engaged with residents impacted by the project and has appealed to the current governor, Seyi Makinde, to ensure that all outstanding payments are made. He stated that compensation for these property owners is a significant concern.

He also promised to maintain the 25th of each month as the salary payment date for state workers and expressed plans to improve internal roads and strengthen the operations of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan. Additionally, he aims to collaborate with the Federal Government to revive the Ikere Gorge Dam.

Adekanmbi defended the Circular Road project, stating that it was initiated by previous administrations. He assured the affected residents that he would review the compensation records and settle any outstanding claims quickly if elected.

On the topic of land acquisition, Adekanmbi expressed his opposition to land grabbing and insisted that any government land acquisitions must follow existing laws. He also challenged Senator Sharafadeen Alli to address allegations of financial misconduct related to local government funds.

In his comments about the handling of funds for victims of the Bodija explosion, Adekanmbi defended the current administration’s actions, stating that the state government acted promptly to assist those affected before federal aid arrived.
