Keyamo Challenges Opposition to Prove Election Rigging Claims

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has made a sarcastic challenge to opposition politicians regarding their claims of electoral rigging. He asked them to show how many people they killed during elections to back up their allegations.

Keyamo’s comments came in a post on his X platform on Thursday. He was responding to a new slogan, “rig and die,” that has emerged ahead of the 2027 general elections. He believes this phrase should be accepted because it would prevent opposition parties from blaming their losses on rigging if the elections are conducted fairly.

He argued that those who claim rigging should be held accountable for any violence, suggesting that the number of people killed should reflect the extent of alleged electoral fraud. “The new buzz phrase ‘rig and die’ should excite all of us and we should all embrace it,” he wrote.

Keyamo emphasized that if opposition parties lose in a fair election, it will be hard for them to hide their defeat by claiming rigging. He stated, “We will ask them how many ‘riggers’ they killed on the election day, because the number of those killed by them should be directly proportional to the amount of ‘rigging’ that took place!”

His remarks come as political tensions rise among parties and their supporters in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
