Abia Governor Urges Voters to Prioritize State’s Future Over Political Handouts

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has warned voters not to trade the future of the state for temporary political benefits. He made this statement on Sunday during a church event in Aba, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff Caleb Ajagba, urged people to think about the long-term effects of their voting choices. He cautioned against being swayed by politicians who previously contributed to the state’s problems.

He emphasized that voters should not let small gifts, like cash or food items, influence their decisions, as these could jeopardize Abia’s future for years. Otti reminded the audience that some politicians who have ignored the community are now trying to win their support for political gain.

According to Otti, the first three years of his administration focused on building a strong foundation for the state. He believes that the next four years will be about strengthening good governance and improving the state further.

During the event, the Bishop of Aba Ngwa North Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nathan Kanu, encouraged Christians to reflect deeply on their beliefs and decisions. He praised Otti for his support of the church and its projects.

The synod also featured other dignitaries, including local political leaders, highlighting the importance of community engagement as elections approach.
