Triton Aviation Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing After Door Opens in Flight
A CL60 aircraft operated by Triton Aviation had to make an emergency landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. This incident occurred after the crew reported that a door had opened during the flight.
The aircraft took off from Abuja at 4:17 PM on Thursday, heading to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Just three nautical miles from the airport and at an altitude of 3,000 feet, the crew issued a distress call at 4:20 PM.
Air traffic control directed the aircraft back to Abuja for an emergency landing on Runway 22. A report noted that the aircraft was in contact with the control tower and asked if the door could be seen from the ground, but it could not be confirmed due to the aircraft’s position.
The aircraft landed safely at 4:34 PM. After landing, it was clear that the door was missing. Emergency services were on standby during the landing process.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau confirmed the incident and stated that investigators are looking into the matter. They plan to release an official statement soon.
