APC Campaign Chief Says Atiku and Obi Pose No Threat to Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election

APC Campaign Chief Says Atiku and Obi Pose No Threat to Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election

Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi are not serious threats to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. He made these comments during a press briefing at the State House in Abuja.

Yari described the idea that Atiku and Obi could defeat Tinubu as ‘laughable.’ He emphasized that the ruling APC has a strong political presence across Nigeria, controlling over 20 states, which he believes gives Tinubu a significant advantage.

According to Yari, both Atiku and Obi lack the political networks needed to compete effectively against Tinubu. He noted that successful presidential campaigns in Nigeria require support from both northern and southern regions, which he claims neither of the opposition leaders has achieved.

Yari pointed out that Tinubu’s influence spans multiple states in both regions, making it difficult for his opponents to challenge him. He referenced past elections where candidates with strong regional support failed to win due to a lack of broader national appeal.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Yari mentioned that the APC will focus on the achievements of the Tinubu administration rather than just promises. He highlighted ongoing economic reforms as a key part of their campaign strategy.

The APC plans to officially launch its campaign on October 14, with activities kicking off in Kaduna State on October 24. Yari expressed confidence that the party’s established political structure and record of governance will resonate with voters.
