Atiba Varsity Boss Sparks Outrage After Taunting Law Students Protesting 10-Year Law School Ban

A viral video showing a Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Atiba University in Oyo State insulting law students during a campus demonstration has triggered widespread public outrage.

The confrontation occurred after frustrated law students shut down university operations to protest an official 10-year ban imposed on the institution’s law program by the Council of Legal Education. The regulatory council barred the university from admitting law candidates due to severe facility deficiencies and for running the program without required approvals, leaving graduates stranded and unable to gain admission into the Nigerian Law School.

Rather than reassuring the affected students during the protest, the university official sparked furor by mockingly confronting the crowd. The DVC told the protesting students that many of them were “intellectually bankrupt,” boasted about his personal accomplishments, and brushed aside regulatory letters presented by students, shouting that “noise will not help you”.

The administrator’s conduct has drawn swift condemnation from student rights groups across the country. Leadership from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has stepped into the crisis, warning the university management that it has seven days to create a legal pathway for affected graduates or face a complete blockade of the university campus.
