Bauchi State Raises Salary Grade for Newly Hired Nurses and Engineers

The Bauchi State Government has received praise for its decision to place newly hired nurses and engineers on Salary Grade Level 09. This decision was made during a recent meeting of the State Executive Council, led by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

According to the council, the new salary grade reflects the professional demands and extensive training required for these roles. Shehu Wakili, the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in Bauchi, highlighted that this move acknowledges the hard work and sacrifices made by these professionals.

Wakili described the approval as a significant step that will motivate young professionals in the state. He noted that previously, many engineers were starting at Grade Level 08, despite their years of education and training. This change aims to address that issue and encourage more professionals to stay in public service rather than seeking jobs elsewhere.

He also commended Governor Mohammed for his commitment to improving workers’ welfare and for being receptive to the concerns of professional organizations. Wakili urged the new hires to show their appreciation by providing dedicated and quality service to the people of Bauchi State.

Furthermore, he encouraged other states in the North-East region to follow Bauchi’s example in recognizing the contributions of engineers and nurses. The Nigerian Society of Engineers in Bauchi is also ready to collaborate with the state government to provide expertise and support for the community.
