DLA Governorship Candidate Denies Endorsing President Tinubu for 2027
The governorship candidate for the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Prof. Vadlya Tame, has denied claims that he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027. This statement comes after reports circulated on October 16, 2026, suggesting that he and other candidates supported Tinubu.
In a statement he signed, Tame said he was not present at a press conference in Abuja where the endorsement was allegedly discussed. He clarified that he was in Yola, Adamawa State, at the time and did not consent to being included in the reports.
Tame emphasized that his name being mentioned should not be taken as proof of his attendance or endorsement. He stated that the DLA’s position on the presidential election will be determined by the party’s National Secretariat and the National Chairman.
He expressed the importance of accurate reporting, especially when individuals are associated with events they did not attend. Tame reaffirmed his commitment to his political goals within the DLA in Adamawa State.
He also urged media outlets, including The Punch, to correct the record to reflect his true stance on the matter.
