NDC Denounces Bandit Attack in Zamfara, Criticizes Governor’s Absence
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State has condemned a recent attack by bandits on the Bindin community. The attack resulted in the deaths of villagers and security personnel, prompting the party to call for international attention to the worsening security situation in the state.
Kassim Almustafa Kayatawa, the NDC’s Publicity Secretary, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a statement released on Wednesday. He extended condolences to the Bindin community in Maru Local Government Area, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire community during this moment of profound grief and unimaginable loss.”
The NDC emphasized that while the destruction of property is significant, the loss of life is a wound that will never heal. They prayed for the deceased and their families, hoping they find strength to cope with their losses.
The party criticized Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal for being absent during this critical time. Instead of supporting his constituents, he attended a Federal Government event in Ethiopia focused on nutrition policy. The NDC described his decision as insensitive and a betrayal of the trust placed in him by voters.
They questioned how the governor could reassure citizens of his commitment to their safety after abandoning them in their time of need. The NDC also condemned the Federal Government for allowing the governor to participate in the delegation while his state faces ongoing violence.
In conclusion, the NDC urged the international community to pay attention to the security crisis in Zamfara and the lack of genuine efforts from both state and federal authorities to protect innocent lives.
