Sokoto Government Seals ADC Office Amid Ownership Dispute

Sokoto Government Seals ADC Office Amid Ownership Dispute

The Sokoto State Government has sealed the office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to a disagreement over who owns the property. This action was announced on Monday by Nasiru Dantsoho, the state Commissioner for Lands and Housing.

Dantsoho explained that the decision was made to prevent further conflicts and protect people and property after a recent clash between party supporters and suspected troublemakers. A review of the property’s ownership documents revealed that it originally belonged to the now-defunct Savannah Bank, and there was no record showing that ownership had changed.

According to Dantsoho, the government has contacted the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), which manages the property, to confirm its current ownership. He mentioned that they are still waiting for a response from the NDIC.

To ensure safety in the area, the government decided to keep the office sealed while they await clarification. Dantsoho stated that anyone claiming to own the property should provide the necessary documents for verification. Once ownership is confirmed, the property can be returned to its rightful owner.

He emphasized that the office will remain closed under government control until the matter is resolved. Dantsoho also warned that anyone trying to enter the building forcefully would face legal consequences. This closure comes at a time of increased political tension in Sokoto State, with reports of violence involving ADC supporters and state security personnel.
