Total Confusion as Private Jet Lands on Unfinished Delta Road, Then Sneaks Off to Lagos Without Clearance

A bizarre aviation drama has unfolded in Delta State, prompting the Federal Government to launch an immediate high-level investigation after a private aircraft landed on a public roadway and later took off without official authorization.

The incident began in the early morning hours when the private plane attempted to touch down at the Asaba Airport. After executing a missed approach, the pilot was forced to land the aircraft on a concrete road currently under construction in the Ogwashi-Uku area, just outside the state capital. Stunned onlookers watched in disbelief as the plane safely navigated the unfinished highway infrastructure.

Four crew members were on board at the time of the unscheduled landing. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that no one was harmed during the incident. All occupants safely disembarked from the plane on the roadside and completed the rest of their journey to Asaba by vehicle.

However, the situation took a highly irregular turn just a few hours later. Instead of waiting for emergency responders and safety inspectors to secure the scene, the crew allegedly turned the aircraft around and took off directly from the construction site. The flight traveled all the way back to Lagos without receiving any regulatory clearance. Air Traffic Control was only notified of the flight after the plane was already in the sky, meaning the pilot had no official permission to execute a highway takeoff.

Reacting swiftly to the security lapse, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, condemned the entire sequence of events, labeling it a severe breach of national aviation safety regulations and security protocols.

Aviation watchdogs have moved decisively to penalize the operators involved. Immediately upon its arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) grounded the aircraft. The regulatory body has placed the flight under intensive review while a full-scale inquiry into the pilot’s choices, the cause of the missed approach, and the illegal road takeoff gets underway.
