Director Michael Mann Injured in Accidental Shooting at Gun Range

Michael Mann, the director famous for crime films like “Heat” and “Collateral,” accidentally shot himself while at a gun range in Los Angeles. This incident happened on Saturday and resulted in minor injuries.

A representative for Mann stated that a weapon accidentally discharged while it was holstered, causing a superficial injury. Mann received treatment and has since been released from medical care.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they responded to a report of shots fired around 4:00 PM local time. They determined that the shooting was accidental.

At 83 years old, Mann is considered an experienced target shooter. He is known for creating intense and realistic gun scenes in his films, which are popular in the crime thriller genre.

Some of his most notable works include “Thief,” “The Last of the Mohicans,” “Public Enemies,” “The Insider,” and “Ali.” However, he is perhaps best recognized for “Heat,” which features a gripping showdown between a master criminal, played by Robert De Niro, and a police officer, played by Al Pacino.
