Court Orders Nasir El-Rufai to Present His Defense in Wire-Tapping Case

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja has directed former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai to present his defense in a trial concerning the alleged illegal interception of phone calls belonging to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

The judge made this ruling after rejecting a request from El-Rufai to dismiss the case against him. Justice Abdulmalik stated that there is enough evidence from the prosecution to require El-Rufai to respond to the charges.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 25, when El-Rufai will have the opportunity to defend himself.
