Nigeria Police Begin Operations to Combat Banditry and Kidnapping Nationwide
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has started operations across the country aimed at tackling bandits, kidnappers, and other violent criminals. This initiative follows recent training for Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel.
According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, these operations will deploy tactical teams to find criminal hideouts and vulnerable areas. The goal is to disrupt criminal activities and improve safety in communities.
The operations kicked off with a pilot effort in Alagye Village, located in the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. This was based on intelligence reports about a suspected kidnappers’ camp nearby. However, when police arrived, they found the camp empty.
The NPF plans to extend these operations to other states, guided by intelligence and local security conditions. Officers involved have been instructed to act professionally and respect human rights during the operations.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has urged officers to keep pressure on bandits and ensure that these operations lead to real improvements in community safety. He emphasized the need for discipline and responsiveness among the personnel.
The police are also asking the public to help by providing useful information to support their efforts. They have promised to keep Nigerians updated on the progress of these operations as they unfold across the country.
