NIMC Cracks Down on Illegal NIN Operators, Seizes Equipment in Enforcement Drive

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has stepped up its efforts against illegal operations related to the National Identification Number (NIN). Recently, they arrested several individuals in Gwagwalada and other areas for unauthorized enrolment and data tampering.

NIMC’s Inspectorate Compliance and Enforcement Unit (ICEU) led the operation, which also involved seizing equipment used for these illegal activities. The Commission aims to protect the integrity and security of Nigeria’s National Identity Management System.

Many problems faced by NIN holders stem from attempts to skip official enrolment processes. NIMC emphasizes that enrolment can only happen at their approved centres. Any changes to personal data must go through their self-service modification platform.

To enhance security and access services, NIN holders are encouraged to download the NINAuth application available on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. This app allows users to print their NIN slips and utilize other features.

The Director-General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, reaffirmed the Commission’s strict stance against extortion and unethical practices. She stated that NIMC is dedicated to providing smooth and efficient NIN enrolment services for all Nigerians and legal residents.

NIMC urges everyone to use only its official channels for enrolment and related services. For accurate information, the public can visit www.nimc.gov.ng or check their verified social media accounts.
