Wike Orders Free Care After Deadly Abuja Building Collapse; Miracle Worker Pulled Alive After 9 Hours Under Concrete Rubble

The construction trenches of the Federal Capital Territory turned into a scene of absolute heartbreak and intense rescue efforts when a three-storey building under construction flattened near the Gudu Market axis. In a immediate intervention to shield the victims from financial distress, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, activated a complete medical rescue plan, ordering that every single survivor pulled from the debris be given high-quality healthcare at zero cost to their families.

The structural disaster, which struck the Durumi 3 area, left five labourers dead and sent shockwaves through neighboring communities. However, amid the dust and heavy machinery, emergency teams pulled off a near-miracle. After digging through twisted iron and thick slabs of cement for more than nine hours, responders located a trapped worker buried deep in the ruins and successfully brought him out alive.

Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, the Mandate Secretary for the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, was on the ground to witness the rescue. She personally stepped into the medical portal to treat the survivor immediately after he cleared the rubble, ensuring his vitals were stable before an ambulance rushed him to the hospital. “The Minister has given a strict directive,” Fasawe announced to the crowd. “No casualty from this site should be asked to pay a single kobo. The government is absorbing the full bill across our designated district hospitals.”

Currently, 11 survivors are fighting their way to recovery at the Federal Medical Centre and other district facilities in Asokoro and Maitama. Meanwhile, heavy excavators and search dogs from a combined force of NEMA, the military, the police, and fire services are still combing through the wreckage. With anxious residents waiting behind the security lines, the Minister’s free treatment order has provided a vital lifeline to the families of the daily-wage earners who went to work, only to find themselves caught in a structural nightmare.
